Pergo Laminate Flooring
|
At Pergo, the environment has played a central role in everything we do since we first started making laminate floors 30 years ago. It affects our products, our production at our manufacturing facilities and our choice of transport and packaging. PERGO® is one of the best environmental choices in modern flooring. At a time when more people are questioning the way natural resources are being used, it is reassuring to know that PERGO consists for the most part of recycled materials.
In fact, 80% of our products content consists of wood chips, a by-product from the forestry industry. And we use only renewable wood from species such as pine and spruce – never exotic woods or wood from rainforests. PERGO® was the first laminate flooring to receive the Nordic Ecolabel – the Swan, which is based on an evaluation of the environmental impact of a product during its whole life cycle. This label certifies that a PERGO floor is a sound environmental choice.
Pergo was also the first flooring company to be certified according to the environmental standard ISO 14001. In addition, PEFC certification ensures that all the wood and paper products are manufactured using raw materials from renewable forests. Another environmental advantage of a PERGO® floor is that they are totally combustible and incinerate without dangerous emissions. We use this property to increase the energy efficiency of our own manufacturing plant at Trelleborg in Sweden where the wood waste from our milling and sawing processes is used as fuel to heat our factory.
The fact that a PERGO floor is almost impossible to wear out is also positive from an environmental point of view. Here is a product that is made to last for generations. Environmentally sound, attractive and hard-wearing - a PERGO floor is a good buy whichever way you look at it.
